  • misterwolf Luthor's assistant Lana Lang takes him to his LexCorp tower in Metropolis; however, her car crashes and the incident nearly kills Luthor while Lana is uninjured. Luthor recovers in the tower, but is paralyzed from the waist-down. To compensate for his condition, he designs an armored suit to allow him to walk and enable him to defeat the alien. Lana promises him support, as does his father Lionel.

  • misterwolf The alien is identified as Brainiac, and he soon attacks Metropolis. Luthor arrives in his suit and battles the alien, but he is overpowered and defeated; US general Swanwick is ordered by Secretary Wayans to help Luthor fight Brainiac, and he reluctantly agrees. Luthor begins building an invention, which is a laser cannon that will weaken Brainiac's ship enough for him to enter it and defeat the alien. However, as days pass during the building process, doctor Orion Wallace passed away, forcing Luthor to halt the process and have it prepared for firing. As Perry White and Lana are about to be killed by Brainiac, Lionel sacrifices himself to save them by letting Brainiac fire at him.

  • misterwolf As Luthor is about to fly to Brainiac's ship, Lana expresses her feelings for him; he returns those feelings and kisses her before leaving the tower. Lana then fires the cannon at the ship, creating a hole in it and allowing Luthor to enter. General Swanwick reveals himself as the Martian Manhunter and aids Luthor in fighting Brainiac's tentacles, before facing Brainiac himself. Brainiac overpowers Manhunter, but Luthor is able to fight him alone. Lana kills Wayans when he discovers that she was working as a double-agent for Brainiac, while Perry is hospitalized by one of Brainiac's minions.

  • misterwolf Luthor kills Brainiac, but not before he destroys the ship's control panel to prevent anyone from driving it away from the earth. Willing to sacrifice himself, Luthor places a bomb in the ship's core, which explodes, while Manhunter regains his consciousness and saves Luthor. The Metropolis citizens acknowledges Luthor as a redeeming hero, noticing that he will never be a criminal again. He promises to protect Metropolis should it need him again.

  • misterwolf In the aftermath, Luthor and Lana are now engaged, while Manhunter resumes his role as Swanwick. Lionel has also been cremated, as Luthor states that he wanted to honor his father's legacy "the right way." Luthor then takes control of LexCorp in his father's place before the end credits roll.

  • misterwolf In a post-credits scene, a wheelchair-confined Luthor speaks with Bruce Wayne, who offers to recruit him into a team of heroes; he agrees, but reluctantly admits that they will also need Superman, to which Wayne replies "Already on that."
