Cheryll has always lived in Sarah's shadow, accepting her role as the group's "number two," but this has cultivated in her a more critical and distant outlook. Although she once shared her values, Daniel's death marked a turning point. She knows what really happened, or at least strongly suspects Sarah's role in the tragedy, and guilt is beginning to eat away at her. She's not a classic heroine, but her conscience is awakening. She's begun to seriously consider telling the truth to Harry or even Brandon, which makes her a key player in the narrative tension. Her moral dilemma has her caught between loyalty and justice.
