Although she is left with nothing, she clings to her dignity, and continues to fight for her child, who becomes her one inspiration. The audience witnesses her descent into poverty as she is exiled by society and ultimately dies, her final action being to give Cosette to Jean Valjean's care. Age: mid 20s.
