A former test pilot and legendary member of the Green Lantern Corps who is approaching retirement.The writers took inspiration for the character from Sam Shepard's portrayal of Chuck Yeager in the film The Right Stuff (1983). Showrunner Chris Mundy felt Chandler had the same qualities as well as a dry wit that they felt was important for Jordan.
