It is a live-action spin-off of the animated series Star Butterfly Limited POE VIACOMCBS, created by Daron Necfy, and the third television series in the overall franchise, utilizing most of the actors that appeared in the 2021 television film A Star Butterfly Christmas, including Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Jack Dylan Grazer, Siena Agudong, Isabela Moner, Sadie Stanley, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, Jenny Slate, Stella Grace Fitzgerald, and Beck Bennett, with Brendan Fraser, Anna Kendrick, Debby Ryan, and Dove Cameron joining the cast.
