1/16 (Phase 1) - Movie mainly focused on Stark's escape from Raza and the Ten Rings. Injured marine James Rhodes finds Stark and returns him to America. Wong-Chu is main villain. Ahmed is his second-in-command, who is a realistic take on the supervillain Mauler. Iron Man returns to New York alive and upgrades his suit. Wong-Chu seeks revenge. One subplot is Mordecai Midas: a rising star in Stark Industries who learns of Iron Man's identity and eventually tells Wong-Chu; he joins Ten Rings in end. Midas also provides Stark technology to Wong-Chu to equip him with the comic villain Melter's powers. The Mandarin is teased.
