Grumpy is a fictional character from Disney's 1937 animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He is one of the seven dwarfs and true to his name, is grouchy, overbearing, short-fused, and a sourpuss. Often portrayed with a scowl and crossed arms, Grumpy is frequently annoyed by the other dwarfs. Deep down, he possesses a warm heart, but seldom chooses to show it. He is the second-in-command of his fellow group of dwarfs.
Grumpy lives in a cottage in the forest (presumably in Germany) with his six other brothers and works with them in a jewel mine that is "over the seven jeweled hills beyond the seventh fall" where he works from whatever time in the morning to 5 P.M. every day mining gemstones and presumably other riches. His most common mining tool is a pickaxe, which he uses to unearth gemstones.
Grumpy was played by different actors: for example. Pinto Colvig voiced him in Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs (1937), Maurice LaMarche in The 7D, Corey Burton, Lee Arenberg in once upon a time, Martin Klebba in The Movie Snow White (2025) and William López Salas will play him in some episodes of The Really Loud House Series.
