Finny and Autumn are childhood friends who used to be inseperable, but once they grew up they sort of drifted apart. Autumn joining in with her little friend group of 'alternative kids' and Finny with the popular crew/ Finny and Autumn would only briefly talk through gatherings with their parents. After years of them both being in relationships, Autumn's boyfriend breaks up with her after graduation, and Autumn and Finny spend the summer together. There, they admit feelings for eachother, but then comes a plot twist.
