Synopsis

Horizon: Supersonic is a 2027 American action sports film written and directed by Andy Muschietti and produced by Zack Snyder and Jerry Bruckheimer from a story by Justin Lin and Chris Morgan. Based on the Forza Horizon video game franchise, it is the third installment in the Horizon film series and a sequel to Horizon: Rise of the Champions. The film stars Sasha Calle and Cara Delevingne as the main characters, alongside Charles Parnell, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, Tyrese Gibson, Jeffrey Wright, Tony Revolori, Kyle Chandler, and Rachel McAdams. In the film, Aaliyah Corazon and her fiancée Amara Taylor must participate in a dangerous race against Amara's unreasonable and narcissistic mother Kathleen in order to protect their newborn but unnamed daughter. To achieve their victory fair and square, Aaliyah seeks help from an unlikely ally, her brother Javi. Horizon: Supersonic was released in theaters on December 21st, 2027; it received universal acclaim for its action sequences, performances, and emotional weight. It was also a financial success like the previous films, grossing over $1.17 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of the franchise. A concluding sequel is in development.

  • misterwolf Plot: Several weeks after being asked to marry her girlfriend Amara, Aaliyah has given birth to a daughter in the hospital. She and Amara have yet to name her, and they are struggling to prepare for their own wedding due to the untimely death of Aaliyah's father, Mark, from a heart attack. Aaliyah's relationship with her younger brother Javi is also strained, due to her busy racing schedule forcing her to arriving at Mark's funeral two hours late; she often confides in Amara for advice to reconcile with Javi.

  • misterwolf Kathleen, Amara's mother, deduces her daughter's engagement with Aaliyah, and challenges them to a dangerous race in an icy road located in Alaska; Shawn states that if they win, they can keep Kathleen's ties with her daughter severed, but if Kathleen wins, she reconnects with Amara. They agree to the challenge under the strict condition that Kathleen does not annul their marriage or try to seperate them.

  • misterwolf However, Kathleen is not known for keeping her word, and plans to destroy their wedding regardless of who wins the race. To achieve victory in this race, Aaliyah and Amara turn to Javi for help; though initially reluctant, he agrees, realizing that Kathleen will stop at nothing to try and break her daughter's engagement to Aaliyah. He aids Shawn and Scott Zuckerberg in training Aaliyah and Amara, but this goes horribly wrong, as Amara's arm is sliced open due to Aaliyah's struggle to overcome the fear of losing her; Amara holds no grudge, as she understands her concern over this matter, and promises to instead ride with her during their pending race when it commences.

  • misterwolf Aaliyah apologizes to Javi for not being at their father's funeral on time, and he forgives her, saying "It's not on you, big sis. You were busy, and I threw that fact in your face." The reconcilation motivates her, and she is able to train properly, with Amara beside Aaliyah in her car while she drives; Harrison Williams, Martha Overton, and Howard Summers help her train harder, and eventually, she is able to participate.

  • misterwolf Before the race begins, however, Kathleen cheats with three races to precede the one she challenged Aaliyah and Amara to, and the first is in South Carolina. Despite being overmatched in the first two laps, Aaliyah wins the race, but Kathleen tries to frame her with a blackmail letter she sends to Shawn saying that she despises him and that he should commit suicide, but he defiantly burns it, knowing Aaliyah would never do this. During the second race, Kathleen wins, and discreetly hints that she had Shawn hospitalized for ignoring her letter. Scott tries to beat on her, but Aaliyah and Amara stop him, reminding him that this will not stop the challenge.

  • misterwolf Afer winning the third race and humiliating Kathleen, Aaliyah examines Amara's sliced arm; after discovering an infection despite the regular treatments, she expertly cauterizes the wound, and then casts Amara's arm with a bandage containing an ice pack. As the final race is about to commence, Aaliyah upgrades her challenger, and Amara owns up to her earlier promise about being with her during the race; the two girls enter the car, and Cliff Farley authorizes the racers to start their engines. Amara angrily stares at Kathleen, indicating that she is chiding her mother for her unacceptable behavior. The race begins, with the first two laps being won by Kathleen, while Williams and Overton fall behind due to their cars being severely damaged by Kathleen on accident. Aaliyah is evenly matched with Kathleen, who tries to intentionally ram her, forcing her to defend herself and causing a scuffle to emerge.

  • misterwolf When Kathleen is about to deal a devastating ram attack, Amara spots an avalanche, and alerts Aaliyah of it; realizing that this is their opportunity to win the race fair and square, she picks up speed fast enough for Kathleen to miss, allowing the avalanche to push her car away temporarily. Aaliyah reaches the finish line, and Kathleen is detained and put on house arrest. A few weeks later, Aaliyah and Amara marry at the Horizon festival, and decide to find a name for their child. Amara has also been encouraged by a recovering Shawn to cut ties with Kathleen entirely, and she puts protection on all of her finances, thus forcing her mother, who was released from her house arrest, to leave North Dakota forever. Aaliyah and Amara, on their honeymoon in Finland, carry their daughter during a tour in a museum. Before the end credits roll, Aaliyah is informed by Shawn that Harrison and Overton are engaged.
