Richard Grayson is a sophisticated but solitary studio photographer, newly arrived from England to work on set designs for MGM’s New York studios. Behind his well-tailored suits and composed manners, Richard conceals a heavy heart—a closeted gay man coming to terms with the life he’s left behind, including a lost love he could never openly grieve. He’s reserved and cautious, but he harbors a deeply romantic spirit, drawn to Eddie’s uninhibited world. The two meet by chance in a dimly lit speakeasy known only to those who dare to defy society’s rigid norms. Eddie’s natural charm breaks through Richard’s careful demeanor, and the two begin a secretive, whirlwind romance.
