Yuri was an atheist raised in the USSR, where religion was treated as something irrelevant and even undesirable. Throughout his life he was dedicated to science, believing that human reason could explain everything. After his career in science, Yuri became a defender of human rights, fighting for equality, justice and freedom for others. Although he never believed in God, his life was full of activism on behalf of others, as well as efforts to improve the world.
