However, a betrayal by the rogue Oan Krona leads to the Manhunters' reprogramming, instigating a genocidal campaign against organic life. This betrayal ignites a conflict between the Manhunters and the Guardians, resulting in the Guardians' creation of the Green Lantern Corps as a replacement police force. As the Green Lantern Corps rises to prominence, the Manhunters, driven by vengeance, lurk in the shadows, seeking to eradicate both the Guardians and their new champions.
