Set several years after the events of the second movie, the sequel follows a group of teenagers who decide to explore the abandoned Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, unaware of the danger that still lurks within. as the group navigates the decrepit building, they are hunted by the malfunctioning animatronics who have regained some of their former abilities. the story explores the psychological impact of the events of the first movie and the lasting effects they have had on the surviving characters.
