Second in command to Lady Rhea, he is initially cold to Byleth but slowly grows to trust and accept the outsider. He is extremely protective, especially of Flayn his daughter, who he pretends is his sister. After initially hesitation he begins a romance with Manuela during the war, while they were less friendly during the pre-war period.
