Journalist Alex Rodgers travels to Miriaz, a rich, evolving yet isolated duchy somewhere between Spain and Portugal, to get a story on it as well as its duke Alejandro Morales and his heritage stemming from the 15th century. However, things turn for the worst when his interview with Alejandro goes wrong and has himself entangled in a violent uprising led by Pablo, Alejandro's estranged brother leading a group of freedom fighters going against his tyrannical regime. Alex has himself thrust into a war he didn't anticipate and must take a stand on whether to embrace Pablo's cause or to pursuit on getting the greatest story ever imagined.
