Ruler of the planet Arthros in the Negative Zone, Nihil encountered the four intruders, the Fantastic Four, when they entered the Zone to search it for the sake of research. Taking their entrance as an act of hostility, Nihil chose to destroy their world before it could come and take from him all that was his. They thought they stopped him. They thought they had gotten away. But exposure to the gateway to their world changed Nihil. Now, he knows... that to truly ensure the safety of himself and his treasures, he must unleash a wave of annihilation onto all that would threaten him. Nihil has become a new being.
