A group of astronauts experiences a cosmic storm during their experimental flight. Upon returning to Earth, the crew discovers they possess bizarre new abilities. Reed Richards can stretch his body. His fiancée, Susan Storm, gains the ability to become invisible. Her younger brother, Johnny Storm, has acquired the power to control fire and fly. Meanwhile, pilot Ben Grimm has been transformed into a rocky monster. As they try to understand their powers, they must contend with new threats.
