Part I: "Dreams in the Shadows" Evie Thompson, a 25-year-old activist and magical prodigy, fights for justice in the marginalized neighborhoods of East Oz. Alongside her older sister, Evermean, and a tight-knit circle of friends, Evie challenges the corrupt, elitist regime of the Wizard. When a tragic betrayal shatters her faith in the system and costs her dearly, Evie discovers a forbidden source of dark magic that promises the power to protect her people—but at a steep price. Part II: "Becoming Evillene" As Evie’s power grows, so does her ruthlessness. Consumed by grief and ambition, she alienates her allies and imposes harsh rule over the Winkie Country, transforming her sweatshop into a fortress of fear. Her relationship with her sister deteriorates, and her former friends become her greatest threats. The film climaxes with Evie’s final, irreversible step into villainy, setting the stage for her reign as the Wicked Witch of the West.
