Young Alexander Drosselmeyer is a adventurous boy who finds a wooden statue that comes to life on Christmas Eve at midnight to whisk him to a world of snow, flowers and sweets. This story explains how Drosselmeyer learned to do magic tricks, make fascinating toys, meet the nutcracker prince and sugar plum fairy, lose his eye and the rat king’s rise to power
