Doctor Mid-Nite: Reborn begins several years after the events of Doctor Mid-Nite (2015–2018), and a year after blind lawyer Pieter Cross stopped his activities as the masked vigilante Doctor Mid-Nite. In the first season, Cross continues his fight for justice as a surgeon while former crime boss Bruno Mannheim is elected mayor of New York City, putting the pair on a collision course. After Mannheim consolidates power, declares martial law, and begins targeting vigilantes, the second season sees him hunting Doctor Mid-Nite. Cross goes underground and gathers allies to resist Mannheim's corruption and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF).
