Presumed dead, in actuality he joined the League of Assassins, and in order to rise in their ranks he had to perform an act of murder, upon finding out his brother had cut him out of the family will during the three years, and squandering the fortune, he choose Boston his brother as the act of murder he will commit. Lost his hand in replacement is a metal hook, hence the name The Hook.
