The Hulk and Solomon Grundy were merged to create Bruce Banner, a radiation scientist, who was working on a project when it went horribly wrong, fusing him with a zombie. He was saved by Doctor Strangefate, who temporarily changes Bruce back into the gigantic monster known simply as the Skulk using magic. In exchange for the magic that enables Bruce to once again become human, he works for Strangefate.
