Garthan Colos was the man's name. When Dark Nova found Xandarian energy signatures on Earth, he realized that Richard Lincoln had been placed into a coma as a result of exposure to Xandarian rocket fuel. Using the technology in his battlesuit, Dark Nova telepathically awakened Richard by connecting with his consciousness. After learning that Richard suddenly possessed amazing powers, Dark Nova Corp gave him a personalized battlesuit. Additionally, Dark Nova assisted in the training of the future Human Nova.
