He was defeated by Extraphelus years ago and was banished to the Late Domain before being freed by Zack Bryjak at the end of "Return to Extravía". **SPOILER** Fragments of Zandevious' past shown throughout the film reveal that he used to be Arthur Matthews, someone from the real world who was meant to be the Chosen One of Extravía, but was deemed unworthy by Extraphelus.
