Alice, an American exotic dancer who relocated to London, encounters Dan on the street. While gazing at him, a taxi strikes her. After she is taken to the hospital, Dan starts a romantic relationship with Alice. A year later, Dan -- who has penned a novel inspired by Alice -- finds himself feeling unfulfilled. He begins to flirt with photographer Anna. Under the guise of being her in an online chat room, he orchestrates an unintentional meeting between dermatologist Larry and Anna. As time goes by, both relationships begin to fall apart.
