Carmen's fellow fairy and narrator, Bluebelle is much more irreverent, often making sarcastic or lewd remarks about the happenings within the story and even influencing the events therein. She serves to inject a bit of dark levity into the story as a counterpoint to Carmen's serious treatment of the material (much to her friend's chagrin)
