The straight man. Charles Sr. is a 67 y/o businessman who has recently bought up the pizza chain founded by his father and his best friend shortly after WWII. His son, Charles Jr., still lives with him. and a good deal of the humor in the show revolves around his various interactions with this character. Although a bland character at times, Charles Sr. is an intelligent, often progressive family man who tends to be likeable to the audience.
