An arch-rival of Sonic, Shadow's skills in speed are in no way inferior to Sonic's. Shadow can also manipulate time and space with the Chaos Emeralds using a technique called "Chaos Control". After the death of his close friend, Maria, Shadow dedicates himself to making the people of the world happy, her last promise.
