Blindness is defined as having little to no usable vision. Some blind people may have what is known as "20/200" vision- able to see something clearly at 20 feet that an average person would be able to see at a distance of 200 feet; distant objects may appear to them as vague colors and shapes. Others are entirely sightless and must rely on their other senses. Blindness can be congenital or acquired later in life as a result of injury or illness.
