In a world consumed by darkness, after the extermination of nearly all the Slayers by an unknown enemy, Buffy must find a way to stop the threat that seeks to erase the last spark of hope. Along the way, she discovers one of the last surviving Slayers, named Reese, and together they must face the challenges ahead, while Buffy battles her own exhaustion and the guilt that consumes her from the losses she's endured.
