Year One of the DCU
Jaime Reyes is nearby a Kord Industries truck whenever it crashes. He checks on everything and helps the driver out of the truck. A hightech Scarab finds itself near Jaime and attaches itself to him, and it grants him powers and a suit. Jaime learns that it used to belong to the hero known as Blue Beetle and decides to take on the mantle. Victoria Kord, the sister of Ted Kord, the previous Blue Beet;e, learns about Jaime taking he Scarab and wants it back. She creates an experimental suit of armor and gave it to a mercenary, naming himself Carapax the Indestructible Man. He is sent to get the Scarab through any means necessary, including killing Jaime or his family.
