Despite being a reluctant ally of Vilgax and his liaison to all things magic, Charmcaster identified herself as a rebel first and foremost, moving to the beat of her own drum and not taking bull from anybody wanting to exploit her powers while hiding her anxieties about struggling to live up to her uncle and her parents' expectations. So when Charmcaster, under her cover name of Heather Hope, meets Gwen Tennyson for the first time and hears about Gwen's struggles to connect with others, the two girls naturally click together. However, Charmcaster's friendship with Gwen is tested when she learns that she's supposed to kill Gwen in the future, and now she's divided between protecting her new best friend or satisfying her master. Thankfully, true to Charmcaster’s character, she defies her destiny and joins Team Ben in saving the world from Vilgax.
