The Batman is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by DC Films and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it was developed as the eleventh film in the DC Extended Universe and a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger and first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. Batman is the superhero protector of Gotham City, a man dressed like a bat who fights against evil and strikes terror into the hearts of criminals.
