June. Billionaire Bruce Wayne reluctantly attends the wedding of Johny Viti, Carmine Falcone's nephew called "the Roman," tyrannical godfather of the underworld of Gotham City. At nightfall, the masked vigilante Batman catches the burglarous feline Catwoman trying to force the trunk of the Italian mafia. As the thief evaporates into the dark corners of the city, the bat-signal, lit by police captain James Gordon, lights up the sky over Gotham. On the roof of the police station, Batman, Gordon, and the young prosecutor of the city, Harvey Dent make the pact to pool their assets to bring down definitively the supremacy of the mafia over their city, with for only condition imposed the respect of the law. Halloween day. Returning from his honeymoon in Italy, the Roman's nephew is murdered by two shots in the head. It is the first in a series of murders perpetuated by the mysterious serial killer "Holiday", whose particularity is to strike each day of celebration.
