After Batman is safe in mind and sanity, trapping The Joker forever, Scarecrow injects him with more toxin. Batman is no longer affected by the toxin, and says he is not afraid. Scarecrow holds a gun to Bruce's head, and says that without fear, life is meaningless. A shot hits the gun, knocking it down. Jason Todd, in his new Red Hood identity, frees Bruce. Batman injects the toxin into Scarecrow himself, who is frightened by Batman's presence. Gordon lands a punch on him, knocking Crane off his feet. Gordon says that Robin will be fine. Batman takes Gordon and Scarecrow to the GCPD, where Cash says he is still on Bruce's side. With the city safe, Batman asks Alfred to activate the Knightfall Protocol, whose password is "Martha". Batman climbs onto the roof of the GCPD, where near the bat signal, he initiates the Knightfall Protocol. He makes his way to Wayne Manor using the Batwing. Several reporters surround the house. Bruce and Alfred enter the Manor together. The manor explodes. Some time later, the now mayor Gordon gives a speech, where he says that there is always a hero to look up to, like Batman. He heads to Tim and Barbara's wedding. A group of burglars try to rob a family, similar to what happened to Bruce and his parents. They see a cloaked figure on a roof. They say Batman is gone and they don't scare them anymore. The figure, known as "The Ghost" leaps towards them.
