Scientist Ray Palmer believes he has found a way to shrink anything with a special lens he created from white dwarfstar. But anything he experiments on blows up when he tries to shrink it. It's only until he tries it on himself during an emergency situation that his metagene stops it from blowing himself up. With this, he becomes a new hero, Atom and eventually butts heads with a man intent on destroying the timeline as we know it: Chronos.
