The New Tooniverse (Phase Three)
After a horrible car accident killed his son, Dr. Tenma creates a robot replica of Toby, complete with defense mechanisms to prevent a “second death”. Soon Tenma realizes that while the robot looks like his son, it’s not and disowns him. Found by a sleazy circus ringmaster, Tobio, now named Astro Boy, becomes part of a robot circus, where he is treated very cruelly. Soon he is found by Dr. Elefun, an old colleague of Tenma’s, who sneaks him out of the circus and teaches him the ways of good and using his gadgets for the better of humanity. But when a robot by the name of Atlas goes berserk, Astro has to step in and be the hero he was meant to be.
