Roxane was the first wife of Alexander the Great, daughter of Oxyartes, noblemen from Sogdiana, in the north-east of the Persian Empire. The Sogdians were people from the steppes, so they were caucasian people, related to the Scythians, speaking a indo-european language of the iranian branch. She gave birth to a child, shortly after Alexander's death. The son was called Alexander too, and was designed as heir to the throne, but he was killed at the age of 13, with Roxane too, by Cassander.
