Raymond Doss, a worn-out and largely forgotten private investigator in his sixties, operates out of a cluttered, dimly lit office in Philadelphia. His career was once promising, but years of unethical decisions and shortcuts left him a ghost in the PI world. Now, he’s haunted by unfinished cases and people he let down, struggling with the reality of his fading relevance. One day, Raymond is hired by Clara Hoyt, the enigmatic daughter of a wealthy family, to investigate the circumstances surrounding her brother’s recent disappearance. While the police suspect he simply vanished under mysterious but mundane circumstances, Clara fears her family may be hiding something more sinister. As Raymond begins to uncover the inner workings of the Hoyt family’s tangled relationships, he starts piecing together a history of betrayal, hidden wealth, and exploitation. But the deeper he digs, the more he realizes how the case mirrors his own troubled past.
