Originally a spin-off of The Cosby Show and centered on Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) when she attended her parents' alma mater Hillman College, a fictional historically black college in Virginia. After Lisa Bonet left following the first season, the series primarily focused more on southern belle Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy).
