Abominable Climbs To The Top. Weekend Box Office September 27-29,2019

Abominable was another win for Dreamworks Animation this weekend opening at #1 with $20.8 million. While not a large opening for an animated film it was enough to knock Downton Abbey to second. The theatrical return of the TV series made $14.5 million in it second weekend and has grossed $107 million worldwide. A sequel seems like a sure bet.

Hustlers is the feel good movie about strippers that keeps on going making $11.4 million and getting close to $100 million worldwide. It: Chapter 2 and Ad Astra made $10.4 million and $10.1 million respectively while Rambo: Last Blood dropped to sixth with $8.5 million.

Judy, the movie about Hollywood icon Judy Garland opened in seventh with $3 million. The movie was not expected to make a lot, but is the type movie that will be talked about come awards season. 

Next week should be big with the opening of Joker. Early tracking has the film threatening Venom's record for October opening.
