After a year in the brutal salt mines of Endovier, she is brought to the King of Adarlan's castle to compete against 23 other assassins and thieves to become the king's new champion. While competing, she forms a complex relationship with the Crown Prince Dorian and the Captain of the Guard Chaol, as she investigates a mysterious evil that begins killing off the other competitors.
