Synopsis

In the 1985 of an alternate reality where superheroes are real (though only one, Doctor Manhattan, has superpowers), one of the vigilantes, the Comedian, is brutally murdered. This causes one of his former colleagues, Rorschach, to investigate on his death, and uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes.

Description of Nite Owl II (Daniel M. "Dan" Dreiberg):

Daniel "Dan" Dreiberg was the second Nite Owl, a vigilante who came out of retirement after the death of fellow crimefighter the Comedian. More than the other heroes, he relied on his technological genius and gadgets to bust crime. After failing to stop Ozymandias' plot to save mankind by killing millions, Dan returned to retirement with his sweetheart Laurie and tried living a normal life under the name Sam Hollis.
