  • tylerhamilton After burying Shane, Dale and the other survivors travel the roads in his RV to find a new safe haven, growing closer to the still-grieving Andrea. They grow even closer after Andrea is the first to run to Dale when he nearly gets bitten by a half-frozen zombie. As they reach Wiltshire Estates, spending the night in one of the cleared-out houses, Andrea attempts to get sexual with Dale, who shuts her down. He tells her that even if they were closer to the same age, there's no way he'd ever truly get over the death of his wife, Erma. She regretfully understands, but Dale immediately comforts her by saying that he will always be there for her to take care of her, seeing her as an adoptive daughter. An ecstatic Andrea embraces him. The following morning, Donna is killed and devoured when the Estate is overrun by zombies, defrosted by the change in the seasons. Dale and Andrea immediately head off to the RV and begin rescuing survivors, including Tyreese, his daughter Julie and her boyfriend Chris, who are trapped on one of the rooftops.
  • tylerhamilton Dale and the others remain on the move until Rick's son, Carl, is accidentally shot by Otis, who then takes Rick and the group to the Greene Family Farm. During their stay, Dale tends to stay out of other affairs until one scene where he tries to defend Andrea from Allen's aggressive behavior, continuing to become a recluse after losing Donna. Later that day, Dale meets up with Lori outside alone, and then explains to her about Rick's importance of being the backbone of the group and how they need him. Dale admits that while he doesn't know exactly what she did with Shane, he warns Lori that if she did in fact have an affair with him and the baby growing inside her is his, she shouldn't tell Rick, as learning about her infidelity will likely cause him to snap, something that they don't need right now, insinuating that it will have a severe negative effect on the whole group. He begs Lori to keep that secret and take it to her grave.
  • tylerhamilton After Hershel kicks the group - sans Glenn - off the farm, Dale and Andrea go out hunting and stumble upon an extremely large, abandoned prison. As they tell Rick about it, the optimistic leader makes a declaration that the prison will be their new home.
