Synopsis

In 1935, Dolores Rook sifts through the archives her grandfather Donovan has left behind, years before she was even born. There she finds notes and articles about the expedition on which he disappeared. While trying to figure out how they got there if he never returned from the journey, she grows increasingly intrigued by the goal of the expedition... finding Atlantis! She comes into contact with Theodore Turner, a linguist and mythographer, who helps her make sense of the clues, and gets contacted by Sir Paul Fairley, an eccentric British millionaire who knew her grandfather closely and is willing to bankroll a new expedition. After gathering a strong crew of characters onboard of the submarine Plato's Grave, they set out to follow the clues of Donovan Rook, and after many perils, eventually find their goal. In Atlantis, they meet Princess Dido, its ruler, and learn about the wealth and culture of the lost world. But danger lurks in the background, from both ends. Xhana, an Atlantean nationalist who despises these surface dwellers possibly spoiling their lives down there, schemes to overthrow Dido in the background. He finds an ally in Marshall Lawrence of the American crew, who is secretely Ernst Dreifuss, a nazi infiltrator seeking to claim the knowledge of Atlantis for the Third Reich, and ends up betraying both his crew and Xhana.
