After the events with the Star Sapphires, Knuckles went back to Angel Island where he was visited by an unexpected surprise: another echidna named Julie-Su! She came from the Lost Tribe of Echidnas in the hidden caves of Chaos, a refuge for Echidnas. But Julie-Su needs Knuckles' help because a powerful enemy was attacking them and has sworn its life to wipe out the Echidnas! Knuckles believed his entire life that he was the last of his kind, but now he gets the chance to save them all! Description of Locke the Echdna (Former chief, Enerjak's 'ally'):

Locke is the descendant of the great founder and chief of the Echidnas: Pachacamac. But it seems the Great Chief's ambitious nature and desire for power was heriditary, and was given to Locke! Locke used to be the leader of the Lost Tribe until he made a deal with the demonic-natured so-called demigod known as Enerjak that he would get ultimate power and have the Echidnas rule as superior beings! Eventually, he'll notice the error of his ways and help fight Enerjak. But little does anyone know, Locke is Knuckles' father!!!!
