Comedians can often pull off dramatic roles that require emotional depth and complexity (see: Bill Burr in The Mandalorian, Aubrey Plaza in the White Lotus, and Pete Davidson in The King of Staten Island). For this role, I cast Forrest Wheeler from Fresh Off The Boat. He also adds further racial diversity to Blue's Raven Boys, a must in 21st Century Hollywood. I imagine his mother as East Asian and his infamous father as white (In the books, Blue mentions that her family and Adam's family represent two kinds of working class families, which I took to mean Black/White).
