  • rafaellain We must keep in mind that the series will last at least 10 years, and there will also be flashbacks featuring a young adult Dumbledore. Therefore, we cannot cast an actor who is too old, such as Sir Ian McKellen, who will be almost 100 years old.

  • evelinaakesson Agree with the person above. Liam Neeson is now the age that both previous actors of Dumbledore were when they got the role. Ian McKellen is too old, he wouldn’t be able to do the more challenging physical scenes in later movies, if he is even still with us at that point.

  • evelinaakesson Also, Ian McKellen was already offered the role back when Richard Harris had passed away and they needed a replacement, but Ian McKellan declined.
