In 1923,a group of archaeologists led by Rick O'Connell,Evelyn and their brother Jonathan explore Egypt. In this exploration they find the mummified body of Imhotep. When Evelyn reads the text of the Book of Amon-Dei,she accidentally brings Imhoptep back to life. Imhotep is at first nothing more than a skeleton,but absorbs human organs from those who opened the ark and transforms into a human.
