Synopsis

It’s Oscar night in Hollywood and among the attendees is none other than oddball character actor turned amateur detective Sammy Lucas – here to present the award for Best Original Screenplay. Lucas was hoping to spend the night meeting his filmmaking heroes, but when the host turns up dead backstage(!), Sammy is not only tasked with catching the culprit, but in order to not derail the festivities he must also step in as host and keep the show going!

Description of Sammy Lucas (The Detective / The Man Who Would be Host):

Despite a successful theatrical run, Sammy is now better known as detective than as a serious actor, and prominent film roles still elude him. Sammy is presenting a category at this year's Oscars, and confided his career misgivings with Brion Collins, an actor-director who also feels like he's not getting his just deserts. Sammy hoped to use the opportunity to meet his filmmaking heroes, but when the host turns up dead, the role of detective is thrust upon him yet again. What's more is that in order to salvage the night, Sammy must also act as replacement host and keep the show going.
